Inflationary pressure in the minds of consumers also appeared to ease slightly. The 12-month median inflation expectation fell to 2.7% from 2.8% previously, a sign that South Koreans may be growing more comfortable with the price outlook after a prolonged period of elevated costs.

The resilience in sentiment is notable given recent volatility in South Korean equities, particularly around chipmaker SK Hynix, whose shares peaked on June 25.
